Wishfull thinking on my part

I was on the road for the best part of 30 years or more. I don't regret it, but when you think back of some of the things we did then, just to make a £ or 2 that is when you say to your self "we must have been mental". When I started I was lucky I had a Volvo F88 and again I was in luck it had a sleeper cab but we did not now what a night heater was at that time. Before that I was delivering cab and chassis from Leyland, Volvo,
Magirus-Deutz, Fords and anything else you could start and keep between the white lines,
At fist we had log books then the dreaded Taco came in but when you wanted to fiddle it, you met up with some of the Irish Drivers and they told you what to do.
We then heard of the CBs when they first started to come into the country and of coarse who first started to bring them in the Irish Drivers "The Paddies "as they were all known at that time.
When we wanted a CB we used to meet the Paddies at the White Sands in Dumfries and buy them I got my one and for a while all I did was listen to it I did not want to use it in case I got done as of course it was am, then I met up with one of my mates and asked why I was not on, the first thing I could think of was I don't have a handle all the mates just laughed and said we already have a handle for you "The Hoolet" which is the Scottish name for night owl, as at that time they all said we see you in the day and we also see you at night,
and because you don't no the difference between night and day.
